Eagle Festival started in 2007 to help raise money for sports at Fairview Area Schools. The school was faced with less income and a smaller number of students and was forced to cut athletic spending drastically, leaving teams to figure out how to make up the difference.
Knowing this trend was not going to change, a group coaches, teachers, and parents gathered to brainstorm new ways to raise money for the athletic program. Since various groups within the school fundraise for so many different activities, this group wanted to do something that would be less of a burden on parents and the community but would still raise a significant amount of money in a small amount of time.
The first Eagle Festival was very small. There was only a chicken dinner and a couple of other events, but those who organized it were pleased to make a few hundred dollars. They set about planning for the next year with the vision of drawing in visitors to benefit not only the school but the local business community as well.
Since that first small event in 2007, Eagle Festival has become an event that students and families anticipate and enjoy. Athletes and their coaches and families volunteer, helping to make each year a success. The festival has grown each year, adding more events and activities for visitors to enjoy and providing more funding for the athletic department.
In 2011 more than 800 people enjoyed the events at Eagle Festival. Come help us make 2016, the tenth annual, the best yet!
