Thank you! Eagle Festival 2019 was a success, even with less-than-perfect weather!
Friday was difficult. We decided at the last minute to have the parade early because the forecast was calling for heavy rain at the scheduled parade time. Aside from ruining the floats, who would be watching in a downpour? So, we did it early. That meant we couldn't block M72 as planned, so the parade basically went around the school parking lot. It was short and chaotic, but the students still got to see the floats and the athletic teams, and no one got wet.
We filled in the rest of the the day with an impromptu volleyball tournament between the classes and some silly dance contests for the elementary.
Youth Soccer was dry and fun for all those who played and watched, but the Varsity Soccer game against Burt Lake NMCA was played in a deluge. It ended in a very wet and soggy tie.
Saturday was dry but cold, and everything went on as planned, though the Cornhole Tournament was moved into the gym at the last minute. The biggest bummer on Saturday was that the Inflatable Obstacle Course scheduled to come was damaged and was unable to be used. We found out too late to get a replacement. However, the kids had fun with the Bike Parade and painting activities, and a few braved the cold for a horse-drawn hayride.
All of the other planned events went very well! There were over 20 beautiful cars on display, the breakfast and dinner were well-enjoyed, and lots of people purchased items at the Craft Show, Garage Sale, Business Expo, and Silent Auction.
We are working on a redesign of this website, so check back soon for information on the FOURTEENTH annual, Eagle Festival 2020!
